PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The AI-Enhanced Pedagogy Training Program is a multi-part, hands-on workshop series for university educators seeking to solve the dual problem of personal time-constraints and the urgent need to prepare students for an AI-native world. Following a 4-Pillar model, this cohort-based program moves from immediate personal productivity and "cloning" your teaching to deep curriculum redesign and using AI as an "equity amplifier." The goal is to help educators effectively integrate AI to save time, enhance their pedagogy, and directly support the university's mission to close equity gaps and increase student graduation rates.

PROGRAM MISSION & PHILOSOPHY

  • Transform how educators think about their role when AI can do what they used to do manually.
  • Effectively and securely integrate AI in every teaching activity and course curriculum to prepare students for the future AI world.
  • Use AI to create easy access to learning and close equity gaps.

TRAINING PLAN WITH DETAILS

More workshops will be added throughout the academic year.

Workshop 1 Faculty Productivity Lab: Getting Hours Back with AI Teaching Collaborator

The problem

Educators are overwhelmed with grading and administrative tasks.

The AI Solution:

This workshop is focused on immediate, broad efficiency gains

What we'll do

  • Build AI workflows for syllabus revisions, lesson planning, rubrics, slide drafts, email triage, recommendation letter scaffolds and literature scans.
  • Write effective prompts and take home a prompt library.
  • Build 2–3 concrete workflows that save time each week, then share time-saved estimates.
Workshop 2 AI as Your Teaching Collaborator Teaching Collaborator

The problem

"It takes forever to create new course materials, and I don't want generic AI content. I want it to sound like me."

The AI Solution:

This is where we introduce the "AI clone." After educators are comfortable with basic AI, we'll teach them to train an AI on their past syllabi, lecture notes, and favorite assignments.

What we'll do

  • Define what “AI Teaching Support” should do (FAQ bot, rubric coach, example generator, explainer).
  • Build a first version of an AI Teaching Support clone: tone, instructions, limitations, and sample prompts for instructor.
  • Discuss boundaries: what the AI Teaching Support should never do (e.g., grade final work fully, override instructor judgment).
Workshop 3AI for Recording Lectures and Generating Animated Videos Teaching Collaborator

The problem

I will need a lot of preparation and many hours to record my lectures live using a green screen and will need additional funds to create animations for them.

The AI Solution:

AI now has tools that can help creating lectures with you without live recordings and can also help with animations.

What we'll do

  • Identify and learn AI tools that can help recording lectures for reuse using your AI Clone or other avatars.
  • Learn how to give prompts and instructions and transcripts to generate animated videos.
Workshop 4 Course Redesign 1: Outcomes, Assessments & AI Alignment Curriculum Designer

The problem

How and when can AI help me design my course curriculum

The AI Solution:

Hands-on practice with effective prompts to help build a course from scratch or redesign using best practices in instructional design

What we'll do

  • Backward design with AI in mind: outcomes → assessments → AI roles.
  • Where should AI be used, limited, or prohibited in each assessment?
  • Discuss integrity & transparency policies in AI-rich classes.
Workshop 5 Course Redesign 2: Designing Engaging Learning Activities using AI Curriculum Designer

The problem

How do I use AI to engage students in a large classroom

The AI Solution:

Build AI integrated learning activities where students apply and analyze subject matter concepts by interacting with AI tools such as Gemini and Notebook LLM

What we'll do

  • Design recurring AI-integrated activities (e.g., weekly AI lab, critique-the-AI, AI-to-analog transfer tasks).
  • Balance AI use with human-only reflection and metacognition.
  • Equity lens: making AI activities accessible to all students.
Workshop 6Course Redesign 3- Beyond 'AI-Proofing': Redesigning Assignments for the AI Era Curriculum Designer

The problem

Educators are afraid AI will lead to cheating and a loss of critical thinking

The AI Solution:

We'll focus on "AI-inclusive" assignments that require students to use AI for process, critical thinking, and synthesis.

What we'll do

  • Designing AI-resilient assessments (process-based, oral, reflective, in-class).
  • Using AI to draft feedback that instructors refine (not replace).
  • Clear student-facing guidelines: allowed vs not allowed, with examples.
Workshop 7 From Tool to Teammate: Building AI Literacy as a Core Student Outcome Learning Partner

The problem

Students will use AI, but few know how to use it effectively, ethically, or critically.

The AI Solution:

This workshop is for educators ready to build "classes focused entirely on AI", teaching prompt engineering and critical AI evaluation as a core learning outcome.

What we'll do

  • Core principles of effective prompting (roles, constraints, examples, iterations).
  • Design discipline-specific prompts for explanations, feedback, study guides.
  • Model how to teach students to prompt (scaffolded prompt templates).
Workshop 8 AI for Equity 1: Closing Equity Gaps with a 24/7 AI Tutor Equity Amplifier

The problem

It's impossible to give every student 1:1 help, especially those who need it most.

The AI Solution:

We will explore using AI for differentiated instruction and as a 24/7 Socratic tutor.

What we'll do

  • Frame AI as a lever for graduation rates & equity gaps, not just “tech.”
  • Frame AI as a lever for graduation rates & equity gaps, not just “tech.”
  • Train students on how to clone themselves for the course being taught and use it as a 24/7 tutoring guide.
Workshop 9 AI for Equity 2: Use AI to make your course materials Accessible & ADA compliant Equity Amplifier

The problem

How can I make my course materials such as PDFs, Word, PPTs, and more ADA compliant quickly.

The AI Solution:

Learn how to use effective AI tools and write effective prompts to make your course materials ADA compliant.

What we'll do

  • Guide how to use specific AI tools and write appropriate prompts to add alternative text to images, create accessible headers and font, accessible tables.
  • Guide how to use specific AI tools to make PDFs accessible.
Workshop 10AI-Enhanced Course Showcase & Implementation Plan (Scaling Your Impact: Developing Your 'Culture of Teaching' Plan using AI Examples) All 4 Pillars

The problem

One educator's success often stays in their classroom.

The AI Solution:

Showcase faculty work and experiences and build an action plan how they could be a role model and train others on campus on how to teach with AI effectively.

What we'll do

  • Faculty share their redesigned module, AI activities, and AI TA.
  • Share experience and provide feedback on alignment, equity, and feasibility.
  • Build a 90-day implementation & evaluation plan (how to track student outcomes, equity, and adoption).
  • Create a plan on how they will train other faculty in their department/program

AUDIENCE

University educators (any discipline) who want to:

  • Teach more effectively with AI
  • Redesign their courses/curriculum with AI
  • Improve their own productivity
  • Build classes where students use AI in almost every learning activity (responsibly)
  • Using AI for effective assessment

AI TRAINING FORMAT & SCHEDULE

  • Live virtual workshops (Zoom): Hands-on training, 90 minutes, biweekly on Mondays from 12 pm to 1:30 pm
  • Start: September 28, 2026
  • End: May 24, 2027
  • Total core sessions: 10 (tentative most likely will be more than 10 and throughout the academic year)
  • Between sessions, faculty complete small “design sprints” in their own course.
