High-Visualization Wall

XCITE, in partnership with Dr. Bahram Mobasher, Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and ITS’s Research Computing Team, is enthused to announce our new Classroom of the Future Exploration Center! Located in the XCITE Commons, our centerpiece is a 25 foot screen array capable of screen resolutions up to 11520 pixels by 2160 pixels and a total count of 24+ million pixels.

The high-visualization wall is a fully interactive touchscreen, with the ability to register up to 32 touch inputs at once. This technology supports the intersection of high visualization work, big data, and high-end computing. It also provides a unique opportunity for improving the impact of and engagement during presentations. Our visualization wall was installed by Integrated Media Technologies (IMT) and T1V’s Think Hub technology. The wall will be utilized to enhance research, learning, and development experiences here at UCR.

The Classroom of the Future

By 2030, interactive high-visualization walls and displays are likely to be a staple of the typical university classroom. These types of interactive displays have great potential to transform learner engagement, encourage deep collaboration, and facilitate interdisciplinary problem-solving. At its core, the classroom of the future will bring instructors and students together dynamically, and also combine with augmented and virtual reality for greater immersive experiences that will transform teaching and research.

Stop by the XCITE Commons (Rivera A0101A, first floor) to experience this cutting-edge technology for yourself. Faculty can explore high-impact presentations, including simulations and large scale data representations. Instructors can also try out the high-visualization wall's ability to display of multiple media rich exhibits and experience the 'infinite canvas'. XCITE provides interactive instruction sessions which include tutorials, demonstrations, and in-person training by appointment.

How Can I Reserve Time on the Wall?

Our wall will be reservable starting in February 2023
