UCR Campus Innovation & Discovery Tour

Welcome Stop (All Participants)
First Stop: Student Success Center
Overview: The tour will begin in the Student Success Center, an advising, student engagement, and academic support building for UCR students. The visitors will experience UCR’s innovative Classroom in the Round, which is designed to hold active learning and student-centered instruction.
Second Stop: New Undergraduate Teaching & Learning Facility (UTLF)
Overview: Before splitting into groups, the visitors are able to view the emerging Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Facility and work their way throughout to meet with a gold cart that will be used in the remainder of the tour.

Cart Route #1: Collections, Research & Nature
Stop #1 Special Collections & University Archives
Overview: In Rivera Library located on UCR’s main campus, the Special Collections preserves rare books, manuscripts, photographs, and even archival materials that support student research across the humanities and social sciences.
Stop #2 Entomology Research Museum
Overview: The home to one of the most significant insect collections in the University of California Riverside, the museum supports research in fields in agriculture, ecology, and invasive species management.
Stop #3 UCR Botanic Gardens
Overview: The Botanic Gardens serve as a public attraction and living laboratory that supports education and research in plant science and ecology.

Cart Route #2: Emerging Technologies, Creativity, & Innovation
Stop #1 Studios (Olmsted Hall)
Overview: The studio provides a more hands on opportunity for creative production and digital story telling with media development.
Stop #2 BioLab
Overview: The BioLab is part of the UCR Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology. It features Anatomage tables, which allow for interaction with “various life-size real human bodies in digital formats that provide an accurate representation and simulation of real 3D anatomy, physiology, and digital pathology.” - Source.
Stop #3 School of Business
Overview: The UCR Business Building is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art 63,400-square-foot School of Business facility featuring a large auditorium, two large, tiered classrooms, a computer/finance lab, a boardroom and multiple conference rooms, study spaces for students and teaching assistant group meeting rooms, student lounges, and faculty offices.
