Join the A-Team and XCITE staff for a series of hands-on trainings designed to help you build accessible content from the start. Whether you are building a new syllabus or remediating old video content, these sessions provide the practical skills you need to meet ADA Title II and WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
Format
All sessions are held via Zoom. Most sessions include a presentation followed by Q&A or hands-on support.
Spring Schedule
Course Shell Review: UDOIT Tool
Discover what the UDOIT tool can do for your course. We will cover scanning courses, file conversion, fixing files inline, and replacing them. Learn how to interpret your accessibility score and prioritize remediation efforts.
Introduction to Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Explore strategies for designing courses that accommodate all learning styles. This session includes a deep dive into Canvas Accessibility Tools and the Rich Content Editor (RCE) Accessibility Checker.
Document Accessibility
Learn to make Word, PowerPoint, and PDF documents accessible before uploading them to Canvas. We will cover syllabus creation, developing content with Pages, and combining document structure with effective alt text for images.
Video Captioning
Master best practices for lecture videos and external media. Led by the YuJa team, this session covers captioning workflows, media management, and how to start discussions with accessibility in mind.
